Q. How are characters personal journals used in this rpg?
A. Characters journals are used sort of an iphone device. They can be used as a regular phone where voice mails and texts can be places, but they can also be used to hold instant message type convorsations between certain characters. For each of these, there needs to be a seperate post in the characters journal for holding texts, voice mails, and instant messages.
Q. Okay, I've seen the text/voice mail thing before, but how does the instant messaging thing work? Do you actually have to be on aim/yim/msn to do this?
A. No, For instant messages, all you have to do is list the characters journal name, a time stamp and the text of the message, then the next character goes, and so on and so forth. It is possible to have group chats in this form as well. See ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) smokinrighthand 's journal for an example. For this format though, it is best to do it in an existant instant messager system and just modify the information to fit your characters if you chose to use this form of communication.
Q. Do characters have to be in the mafia to be able to play in this game?
A. Absolutely not! Just because this game is originally centered on the mafia, doesn't mean your character has to be connected. After all someone needs to man the shops and such in Mafia land and even the mafia has connections with legitimate businesses. Whatever character you decide to bring into the game can be involved with the mafia or not, but keep in mind that they are on a private resort funded by the mafia.
Q. If my character isn't originally connected with the mafia, is there a way for them to get connected? Or will they always be on the outside fringe?
A. If you contact the mods about connecting your character to a certain mafia family then one of them will connect the player who is the boss of that family to let them know that your wise for your character to join. Where you enter into the organization and how your character is treated within it is at the discretion of each families boss under supervision from the mods.
Q.Character Death?
A. Active Characters cannot be killed without the consent of the player and the mod. An inactive character who has failed the activity check will be killed and an annnouncement about their death will show up in the Mafia Land Times. Once a character is dead they can be reapplied for and the announcement will be taken out the newspaper. Characters cannot be randomly gunned down for crappy reasons, they can be injured if it's discussed between players but no random homicide.
Q. Wait...Newspaper....?
A. Why yes! The Mafia Land Times is the islands newpaper. A new issue goes out every Sunday night at midnight (EST) chronicling the weeks major events, new arrivals, deaths, announcements and essentially anything else that the mods may fine interesting to put in there. If anyone is interested in helping the mods compile information to enter into the times, please pm one of us! Also, if you're a member and you don't see information that you think you should go into the times or want to be in it, let one of the mods know as well

I don't know if this is the appropriate place to ask this but I was wondering if we were allowed use samples and applications from other roleplays.
